Three Sunday edges the market hasn't fully priced in yet

By Frankie Moss — Frankie covers the news the market overreacts to: injuries, scratches, trade chatter. He makes a living on the other side of the panic. If the whole betting world leans one way after a headline, Frankie is already looking at the fade.

Sunday's slate has three clear edges that the market hasn't fully priced in yet.

Start with the New York Mets at +104 against the Miami Marlins. The projection model gives the Mets a 60% win probability, while the +104 line implies just 47%. That is a 13% edge, the largest on the board. Sandy Alcantara has been solid for Miami with a 3.82 ERA and an 11-6 record, but the Mets' home park, Citi Field, plays neutral and the weather is mild at 82 degrees with a 15 mph wind blowing south. The model sees value on the home underdog, and I trust the line, not the press conference, when the gap is this wide.

The Los Angeles Angels at +195 against the Milwaukee Brewers is the kind of number that makes you double-check. Jacob Misiorowski has been dominant with a 1.58 ERA, a 0.75 WHIP, and a 13.88 K/9, but the model projects the Angels with a 42% win probability, far above the 32% implied by the +195 line. I'll admit, fading a pitcher with a 13.88 K/9 feels wrong, but the panic is the edge when the numbers say otherwise. Walbert Ureña has held opponents to a .202 batting average and owns a 2.70 ERA for the Angels, and Angel Stadium has a park factor of 1.119 for runs. The edge here is 10%, and at plus money, it is worth a shot given the Brewers' tendency to pull "The Miz" early.

The third play is a total, not a moneyline. The Detroit Tigers visit the Athletics with a total set at 11, but the projection model sees just 9.5 runs. That 1.5-run gap is the largest total edge on the slate. Keider Montero has a 3.34 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP for the Tigers, while Gage Jump has a 4.00 ERA with a 9.71 K/9 for Oakland. Even at Sutter Health Park, which inflates runs by +29% on average, this total is just too high. The window closes fast on totals this mispriced.

The Play

  • New York Mets ML: +104
  • Los Angeles Angels ML: +195
  • DET/ATH UNDER 11 Total Runs

Confidence: Medium-high on the Mets and under, medium on the Angels given the pitching mismatch. Three bets with real edges that the market is still catching up to.
