Boateng's 4 NFL Week 8 Prop Picks for Sunday

Twelve games on today's NFL slate, and I'm looking at four players who should see plenty of work. Two of these guys are passing game options who have been consistent all season, and two are running backs with different paths to value.

Drake Maye, Patriots vs. Dolphins

Pick: Drake Maye Over 232.5 Passing Yards (-115 at BetMGM)

The Dolphins are giving up 236.2 yards per game to opposing quarterbacks, the 8th-most in the league. That's where this starts. Drake Maye is averaging 254.9 passing yards per game this season, and he's facing a Miami defense that also allows 7.1 yards per attempt, the 3rd-most in the NFL.

Maye cleared this number in 14 of 21 games last season when he averaged 248.7 per game. The concern is if New England jumps out early and just runs clock, but even in a game where they control the ball, Maye has been efficient enough to hit this number.

Chase Brown, Bengals vs. Titans

Pick: Chase Brown Over 3.5 Receptions (-102 at FanDuel)

Chase Brown is averaging 4.7 receptions per game this season, and that's the foundation here. He's been a real weapon in the passing game for Cincinnati, with games of 11, 5, 4 and 3 catches already. The Bengals are implied for about 29.5 points, which means they'll have the ball plenty.

Tennessee is allowing 247.1 passing yards per game, the 11th-most in the league, so this is a defense you can move the ball on. Brown has drawn 5, 2, 11, 4, 5 targets over his last five games, so the volume is there. What worries me is if Cincinnati gets up big early and just pounds the run, but Brown has been involved enough in the passing game that he should still get his chances.

Tre Tucker, Raiders vs. Jets

Pick: Tre Tucker Over 3.5 Receptions (-120 at FanDuel)

Tre Tucker has gone over 3.5 receptions in 8 of his last 10 games. That's the play right there. He's averaging 4.1 catches per game this season and has been a consistent target in the Raiders' offense, drawing 4, 8, 5, 7, 12 targets over his last five games.

The Jets are allowing just 206.4 passing yards per game, the 3rd-fewest in the NFL, so this isn't a great matchup on paper. But Tucker doesn't need a huge day, just four catches, and he's been getting there even when the yardage isn't explosive. He's been one of the guys they look to consistently.

Jonathan Taylor, Colts vs. Jaguars

Pick: Jonathan Taylor Over 50.5 Rushing Yards (-111 at DraftKings)

Jonathan Taylor averaged 93.2 rushing yards per game last season and cleared 50.5 in 14 of 17 games. That's the track record I'm betting on. This year he's at 83.9 per game and has carried the ball 23, 20, 15, 21, 18 times over his last five, so the workload is locked in.

The Jaguars are allowing just 51.5 yards per game to opposing running backs, the 2nd-fewest in the league, and they're giving up only 3.2 yards per carry. That's the risk. But Taylor only needs 51 yards, and with the kind of volume he's getting, he can hit that even against a good defense. He's been productive enough all season that I'm taking the over here.

The Play

  • Drake Maye OVER 232.5 Passing Yards: -115
  • Chase Brown OVER 3.5 Receptions: -102
  • Tre Tucker OVER 3.5 Receptions: -120
  • Jonathan Taylor OVER 50.5 Rushing Yards: -111
